New techology offers area woman the hope of regaining sight

Without the glasses, Charlotte Baker’s vision was measured at 20/700, Ken said. With the glasses, it was 20/60.
A video of her trying on the glasses for the first time is emotional.
When asked if the image is as good as she’d hoped, she began to cry.
“No, it’s better,” she said.
The tears kept flowing when Charlotte Baker saw a picture of her great grandchild for the first time.
The Bakers lived in Houston for many years before relocating to Coal Creek five years ago. The glasses allowed Charlotte Baker to see the house she had been living in for the first time.
“It’s about time you showed me the house,” she joked.
However, Charlotte Baker’s experience with the eSight glasses lasted just a short time. While the visit confirmed the eSight glasses would work for her, they aren’t cheap.
At that time, they were priced at $15,000. They’ve since dropped to just under $10,000.
Although the eSight company offers assistance to people in their efforts to raise funds for the glasses, they can’t simply give away their technology.
Charlotte and Ken Baker have been trying to raise enough money to purchase a set of the glasses. So far, they’ve collected a little more than $3,000.
“We’re on a fixed income.
